What editing software would be best for my old Sony DCR-HC30E Camcorder?
I have a very old Sony DCR-HC30E and I would be a little more experimental filmmaking. I used Windows Movie Maker in the past, but the drop in quality is too much for me to take to the next level - what editing software suite that you recommend? Free is nice, but I know I tend to get what you pay for, so please offer any experience you have. Thank you.
If you import the video from the camcorder to your computer via USB, then the video is not High Quality "DV" but a highly compressed format USB power. If you were to use a Firewire Cable (not USB) to connect the camcorder DV port (not USB) to your computer's FireWire port (not USB), then import, you would be getting high quality DV video format. Filmmaker not a full-featured video editor - I agree - but Video compression = discarded video data reduced video quality. When you import 60 minutes of Standard Definition DV format, video, used somewhere around 12 to show 14 GB of space on computer Hard Disk. If the imported video filmmaker does not use that kind of space is due to compression and USB streaming is used. While I can not see how the import is now, do not think the poor quality that is reporting the fault of the filmmaker ...
