Do I need a good Macro Lens for macro shots? Iv has the sigma-70 300mm lens on my Canon 1000D. "I can zoom in too close to photos of insects, etc. ?

You can shoot the insects with a zoom lens. Just keep in mind that they will not look like a macro shot. In a macro shot can often see small details in insects, such as the trunk of a butterfly, but did not receive such increases with a zoom lens. Still, I think made some incredible shots Zoom Lenses so get out and try. Just remember to use a fast enough shutter speed when using a long Telephoto Lens so you do not get camera shake.
