How to set the DPI setting on a digital Camera Pentax * istDS.?
Currently shooting is shown as 72 DPI, but the camera hte is 6 megapixel shot in the fine mode.Whats up?
I would not worry about the figure until print.The DPI DPI figure is not really related with the number of pixels that the camera is capturing. I think Pentax defaults to 72 dpi resolution, no matter what you choose. Figure DPI is also essentially meaningless until you decide to print. If you are printing a 6 megapixel image at 72 dpi, the print would measure long (3000/72) 41.6 inches! Here are the steps I took when I print an image: 1. Decide how you want the biggest impression is 2. Resize the image (change the number pixels) to match the size you choose in step 1 at about 300 dpi. (For example, if I choose to 8x12 inches in step 1 to change the image size of 2400 x 3600 pixels). 3. Change the DIP 72-300 4. Print 300 is generally considered the optimum dpi for printing, although many people as their performance in as low as 180 dpi.
